Margie Geiser, RD, NSCA-CPT, president of MEG Enterprises, Inc., provides coaching to health and fitness professionals who have allowed fears, doubts and limiting conversations to hold them back from creating/growing the business of their dreams. Margie’s book, Just Jump was released in July, and has already garnered rave reviews. Margie is an MBA student at California State University, San Bernardino, where she has received multiple entrepreneur scholarships and been inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma. Angela Grassi, MS, RD, LDN, author of The Dietitian's Guide to Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, has a second book, The PCOS Workbook, due this fall and available at www.PCOSnutrition.com. Angela has spoken at the 2008 New Jersey Dietetic Association; 2007 Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo Sports, Cardiovascular, & Wellness Nutrition Group; Renfrew Conference, and numerous PCOS Association events. Sharon Lehrman, MPH, RD, LD, recently completed six seminars as the featured speaker for an insurance agency specializing in long-term care insurance. The seminar titled “Active Wellness: Your Guide to Longevity and Vitality,” publicized on the radio and in the newspaper, was attended by over 300 people throughout the Minneapolis area. Several other insurance agents who attended were so excited about this idea, they asked Sharon to provide similar services for their insurance companies! Nancy Collins, PhD, RD, LD/N, recently launched a Renal Center on her Website www.RD411.com. The Website now has over 500 professional resources for dietitians including handouts, policies, in-services and slides. The best thing is that they all are FREE and most are customizable to save you time and get you back with patients or building your business. Nancy also continues her work as a wound care expert and nationally recognized medical litigation speaker, author and consultant. Linda Eck Mills, MBA, RD, LDN, FADA, owner of Dynamic Communication Services, Bernville, PA authored “From Local Chow to Green Machine” in ADA Times (January/February issue). Linda’s interview for “Business Plan 2.0: Putting Technology to Work” appeared in the February issue and the May Supplement to JADA. She is a contributor to the newly released textbook Nutrition: Real People, Real Choices by Hewlings and Medeiros, and Trainer’s Warehouse Book of Games from Pfeiffer Publishing. Sarah Gleason, RD, longed to be in private practice for at least 12 years, but something always held her back; fear over money, concern over time, and knowing she would be moving again. Her office officially opened in July. She offers one-on-one nutrition counseling, grocery store tours and gives clients the opportunity to eat with a dietitian. Karen Ansel, MS, RD, was recently appointed New York City Media Representative for the NY State Dietetic Association. Karen is a freelance writer and frequently contributes to Woman’s Day, Family Circle, Prevention and Cooking Light. Gita Patel, MS, RD, CDE, LD, was in Italy in April to provide consultation to Bluone cooking tours on starting vegetarian cooking tours. She traveled in the Emilia Romania region and stayed in Bologna. Gita spoke at two conferences for the national MS society this spring. In June, she did a radio show and spoke to women business owners at a luncheon on “Balancing Your Life.” Gita will also speak at ADA’s FNCE this fall. Jill Nussinow, MS, RD, and Sue Roberts, MPH, MS, RD/CN, have joined forces as Step Ahead RD, helping fellow dietitians increase their profit and effectiveness online. They’ve led teleseminars on a variety of topics, hosted guests such as The Blog Squad and pod casting expert Leesa Barnes. Jill and Sue also run a Master Mind Group and have authored an eBook.
